Twitch raids: choose a channel and welcome incoming viewers

A raid sends viewers to another live channel after your broadcast. It is a convenient way to introduce your community to another creator. Treat it as a recommendation of an interesting stream rather than an exchange of mandatory return raids.

Choose a suitable stream

Before ending your broadcast, open several candidates and listen to them. Compare their language, subject, and conversational style with what your community usually enjoys. Check that the channel is genuinely live and is not ending its broadcast right now.

Choosing a familiar creator or discovering someone in your category is perfectly fine. Explain the choice: “They are working on the task we discussed earlier.” Participation is voluntary. Do not require people to post messages or stay on the other channel.

Start the raid and say goodbye calmly

  1. Use the raid option in Twitch's Stream Manager or the command /raid channel_name, replacing the name with your chosen channel.
  2. Check the selected creator and follow the interface prompts for confirmation and the countdown.
  3. Suggest a short friendly greeting without spam and end your own broadcast in your usual way.

The command transfers the audience; it does not promise a particular result. If starting a raid is unavailable, check Twitch settings and messages. Do not try to bypass restrictions on the receiving channel.

Prepare for an incoming raid

When someone raids you, thank the creator by name and briefly introduce what is happening: “Hi! Today we are learning to get through this section without hints.” Newcomers can join in more easily when they understand the current task. Then continue the stream without turning the greeting into a long pause.

Check incoming raid settings and available restrictions in advance. Discuss responses to unwanted behavior with your moderators. Welcoming a raid does not suspend your regular chat rules.

Do not judge a connection by one number

Some arrivals will leave, which does not necessarily mean the stream was bad. Your job is to welcome people clearly and show your format. If the introduction was enjoyable, keep in touch without expecting an obligatory return raid.
