Joining a stream as a Restream guest: connect and check before going live

A guest does not need to start a separate broadcast: the host sends a Restream Studio invitation link. Join early to check your camera and microphone before appearing live.

Connect to the studio

Use an updated browser. Restream recommends Chrome on computers and Android, and Safari on iOS. Connect power and close unnecessary applications.

  1. Open the invitation link sent by the host.
  2. Allow the browser to access your camera and microphone.
  3. Enter your display name and press Join Stream.
  4. In the waiting room, check picture and sound with the host. Viewers will see you when the host brings you on air.

If there is echo or instability

Wear headphones so your microphone does not pick up the host through speakers. Use wired internet when possible. Check whether another program is using your camera.

Agree on when you go live. Joining the waiting room and appearing to viewers are separate actions.

Before the conversation

  • The host hears you without duplicated audio.
  • Your face is visible and the light is not behind you.
  • You know the topic and how to report a problem.

Keep the link and the host’s contact available. If you disconnect, use your agreed contact method and reconnect rather than assuming the broadcast automatically stopped.
