How to feel more confident on camera

How to feel more confident on camera

A camera can make you constantly check your face and lose your train of thought. Short practice sessions with one clear goal make delivery easier to work on.

Record a short rehearsal

You do not need to talk nonstop for an hour. Pick a familiar topic: explain a game decision or demonstrate a setting you use.

  1. Test your equipment beforehand so it does not distract you while speaking.
  2. Prepare a short outline: opening, main point, and ending.
  3. Explain the topic on camera, occasionally looking into the lens rather than only at your own image.
  4. Review the recording and choose one change: speak more slowly, keep your hand away from your face, or finish sentences clearly.

Do not turn review into fault-finding

Compare the recording with the goal: is the idea clear, the voice audible, and the face visible? An awkward gesture does not make the entire stream bad. Repeat the same segment after one change.

An outline helps you return to the topic. It does not have to be a script read word for word.

Check before streaming

  • The camera and microphone work without constant adjustments.
  • Your opening lines and topic are ready.
  • Notes are positioned for a quick glance before returning to the camera.

Allow preparation time and choose comfortable clothes. Do not immediately copy a favorite creator’s style: find a delivery you can maintain during an ordinary stream.
